Tell me, can anyone receive Jesus into his heart and not die?
On May 12, 1333, the Feast of the Ascension, while praying in church, a bright white host was suspended over the head of Bl. Imelda. The other sisters of the order saw this miracle and called the priest. Upon his arrival, the priest took this as a sign that Imelda was to receive Holy Communion. The priest gave her communion; soon after, Imelda went into ecstasy and died, at the age of 11, later that day; that of her First Holy Communion.
At an early age, she had an amazing desire to receive Holy Communion
Church custom at that time prohibited receiving Holy Communion until the age of 14
At the age of nine, she entered a cloistered order of the Dominicans
Her body is incorrupt and is in the church of St. Sigismund, Bologna, Italy
Patroness of First Holy Communicants
Beatified in 1826
Feast Day: May 13
May 13th is also the date of the first visit of "Our Lady" to three blessed children in Fatima, Portugal, who were prepared by an Angel on three prior visits, the last of which ended with the children receiving Holy Communion
