What is a miracle?
A miracle is a divine act of God which contradicts the laws of nature.

Why is St. Anthony of Padua called the "Wonder-Worker?"
"Wonder-Worker" or "Thaumaturgy" is a God-given grace to a saint to perform miracles. St. Anthony was one of many saints, which are well documented, known to perform miraculous acts. In fact, in order to be declared a saint, the Church typically requires two miracles through the intercession of the candidate or "Blessed." Many saints that have been given the title of "Wonder-Worker," here are just a few:

• St. Nicholas of Myra
• St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina
• St. Seraphim of Sarov
• St. Spyridon of Trimythous
